The Corvallis Flower Basket Program began in 1977, operated by Corvallis Parks and Recreation Department. By 1994, the Flower Basket Program "grew" to 60 baskets and the city's budget could no longer support it. Encouraged by the city, a group of volunteers formed an independent, non-profit, tax-exempt organization to operate the Flower Basket Program. The Program has now grown to nearly 250 baskets each year.
Continuation of this lovely tradition of adorning Downtown Corvallis with hanging flower baskets during the five months of summer relies solely on the support of civic organizations, businesses, and private citizens. Your donation helps to keep the Flower Basket Program alive.
Each year, more than 200 lovely hanging baskets enhance the beauty of Downtown Corvallis through the summer months. Your donation will help keep these beautiful flower baskets blooming in Downtown Corvallis.
Cost to plant and maintain each basket is approximately $75, but any donated amount is appreciated. Please send your TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation today, to help continue this lovely tradition. Please make checks payable to Corvallis Flower Basket Program and mail to PO Box 269, Corvallis 97339. Please indicate if you wish a receipt.
In September, baskets are taken down and sold to the public at Corvallis Fall Festival. All proceeds from sales go to the following year's Flower Basket Program.
